A set of bowls (S M L)
(2014)
This set of bowls comes in three varying sizes to serve different purposes – a cup, a bowl and a plate. The shapes of the bowls are inspired by the layers of petals of a tulip when stacked together.
Playing with the idea of concentric circles, the interval between each bowl is regular while grooves on the inner surface of the cup and plate are of varying frequencies. When stacked and viewed from the top, the grooves give an interesting illusion. The process of making involves wood selection, wood turning, shaping, sanding, oiling and waxing.
